How a weekly coffee date helped her lose weight

Today, I’m excited to share a glimpse into the inspiring journey of one of my clients.

Stephanie and I first began working together in August of last year. Over those months, she made considerable progress, losing nearly 30 pounds.

In March of this year, driven by her determination to pursue her weight loss and health goals further, she reconnected with me to resume our sessions.

Just last week, Stephanie celebrated a significant milestone—a remarkable 50-pound weight loss!

One of the key strategies she attributes to her success?

A weekly coffee date with herself.

Here’s how it works. Every Thursday morning before work, Stephanie visits a beautiful little café and treats herself to a delicious and healthy breakfast. With her notebook and pen in hand, she reviews her food journal from the past week, assesses her progress, and sets her intentions for the week ahead.

During these sessions, Stephanie reflects on her broader goals, asking herself key questions such as: What’s working well? Where can she improve? What adjustments does she want to make for the upcoming week? She also celebrates her achievements beyond the number on the scale and addresses any challenges she’s facing, planning for potential obstacles proactively.

This weekly date is a non-negotiable for Stephanie, treated with the same reverence as any other important meeting on her calendar. Even during busy and challenging periods, she remains dedicated to this routine, maintaining an honest food journal so she can accurately gauge her progress and address any setbacks promptly, preventing them from becoming persistent issues.

Stephanie began this routine after our initial round of sessions concluded last November, replacing our weekly touchpoints with her own to keep herself accountable. These dates became so instrumental to her ongoing success that she continued them even after resuming our sessions again in March, and she recently shared that she has no intention of stopping them.

What’s truly inspiring about Stephanie’s story is not just the weight loss but the positive mindset shift she’s experienced.

Through her ongoing commitment, she’s learned to appreciate the journey itself, finding joy in the process without fixating on the destination.

This weekly date has nurtured her self-awareness, enabling her to be more in tune with her body’s signals and needs, fostering gratitude for its capabilities.

Really, it has become a cornerstone of her self-care routine, reinforcing a strong connection with herself.
